Cheerleading Scholarships to America are hugely popular and difficult to find. They are especially sort after from high school students from within the US itself and unlike most sports that we help student-athletes with, cheerleading is not an NCAA sport. This means that it is up to the individual college as to whether they offer scholarships in the first place and the amount that they offer varies from college to college. It also means that there is no NCAA Eligibility Center with rules or regulations that the student-athletes must adhere to.
College cheerleading in the USA is managed by two separate organizations under two separate governing bodies. Firstly there is USA Cheer/Varsity that governs the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) and then there is the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA), which is governed by USA Gymnastics.
Both of these separate organisations have their own national championships and college affiliates that compete under each governing body. Currently there are six member universities that form the NCATA and 98 that compete within the NCA. This year marked the first national NCA championships that was also governed by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), which is a similar organisation to the NCAA and recently included cheerleading as one of its 'emerging' sports.
As well as the scholarship opportunities at these colleges there are also other possibilties through individual instutions that do not currently compete but do cheer at their respective college sports games (football, basketball, etc). Academic scholarship aid and other financial avenue are also available at colleges across the country, so if you are interested in finding out more information then please contact us today.
